Each chapter has problems given throughout to illustrate points being made. We will work out these problems as we go along to highlight the concepts being discussed.
This course reviews the fundamental principles of general chemistry and emphasizes the aspects of organic and biological chemistry that are important to the health sciences. These include: Amino acids and proteins, Enzymes and vitamins, Hormones, neurotransmitters and drugs, Generation of biochemical energy, Carbohydrates and their metabolism, Lipids and their metabolism, Body fluids.
The course consists of 14 units of learning that briefly summarize the required readings and discuss problems presented within the text. Each unit is followed by an online test. The tests are automatically graded and provide feedback about the questions you may have missed.
