Building Better Springs: TendonTraining for Recovery & Performance (CPE 9 044)
Term: 2024-2025 Academic Year Summer
Description
Tendon pain can severely limit performance and function at any level of activity and any stage of life. Recurrent tendon pain causes frustration and dropping out of many activities. Recurrence also leads to tendon degeneration with tearing, rupture, and surgery as consequences. There are a surprising number of recent advances in the treatment of tendinopathy. In this course we explain optimal corrective exercise programming across the spectrum, from the severely degenerated tendon all the way to the athlete seeking resilience and performance.
We take an in-depth look at the purpose, application, and practice of various dynamic loading approaches. We review specific exercise progressions at the hip, knee, ankle, and shoulder. Finally, we explore pain and reactivity as a guide for choosing the most appropriate loading approach together with treatment options when high reactivity impairs loading tolerance.
