The World Health Organization (WHO) has called for an urgent need to transform mental health care attitudes, actions, and services to address the needs of the growing population of youth and adults living with a mental health disorder. The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) reports that one in five adults live with a mental illness and death by suicide continues to rise (2023). Healthcare providers, community advocates, leaders, and citizens can positively influence mental health care needs through effective collaboration and partnerships. The Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC) provides core competencies for healthcare professionals. These standards of interprofessional collaboration include values and ethics, roles and responsibilities, communication, and teams and teamwork (IPEC, 2023).
