Description

The World Health Organization (WHO) has called for an urgent need to transform mental health care attitudes, actions, and services to address the needs of the growing population of youth and adults living with a mental health disorder. The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) reports that one in five adults live with a mental illness and death by suicide continues to rise (2023). Healthcare providers, community advocates, leaders, and citizens can positively influence mental health care needs through effective collaboration and partnerships. The Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC) provides core competencies for healthcare professionals. These standards of interprofessional collaboration include values and ethics, roles and responsibilities, communication, and teams and teamwork (IPEC, 2023). Each healthcare discipline brings a unique set of skills and perspective to patient care and collaboratively can influence physical and mental health outcomes. The 2024 Mental Health Summit brings together healthcare professionals from various fields to share their expertise and strategies for improving mental health outcomes through collaboration in practice and educational frameworks and models. Join us for expert-led discussions and real-world case studies that will provide healthcare providers with strategies to enhance support systems and collaboration to improve mental health outcomes for those most in need. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a collective effort to advance behavioral health care and make a difference in our communities.
