Description

This seminar/course will create the opportunity for an exciting and timely discussion regarding the fundamentals and practices of Occupational Therapy from a social perspective. Faculty will present historical and psychosocial experiences in the context of occupational therapy as its provided in Chile, and in much of Latin America. Concepts of social Occupational Therapy will be discussed and examples of community-based interventions will be reviewed.
1. Contribute to the development of a socio-historical vision of the profession by reviewing the theoretical foundations of the discipline.
2. To reflect and discuss paradigm shifts in OT
3. Identify the challenges and opportunities in development of socially based Occupational Therapy interventions and programs in the United States.
4. Understand and analyze Occupational Therapy experiences with a social- historical perspective provided by Chilean Occupational Therapists.
