A functional and biomechanical approach to examination and treatment of the at risk or injured runner will be presented during this 2 day seminar. A thorough review of the anatomy and biomechanics of running and walking is emphasized so as to understand normal mechanics and subsequent identification of dysfunction and/or compensation. Topic areas will include: functional anatomy and biomechanics of the lower extremity as it relates to gait, muscular and joint influences of pathomechanics, examples of common running dysfunctions, case studies with video evidence and therapeutic exercises designed to specifically address identified areas of weakness. Information provided is based on current, best evidence. The heavy lab component of this course involves the clinical evaluation of joint and soft tissue dysfunction as they contribute to altered mechanics and injury.
