Description
Course material emphasizes the development of clinical knowledge and skill necessary to complete a differential spine examination and to plan and carry out effective interventions for spinal impairments. General principles of spinal functional anat?omy, tissue and spinal joint biomechanics and pathology are presented as well. Spine examination proce?dures covered in this course include structural assessment, active range of motion, palpation for position, condition and mobility (PIVM), neurovascular screening, and history taking and interpre?tation. This course will focus on the principles and techniques necessary to perform a competent physical therapy examination and intervention program for all spinal regions (except upper cervical spine) including thrust and non-thrust manipulations. When students return from their 6th trimester full-time clinical internships, the 7th trimester curriculum will continue to review and include more advanced physical therapy manipulation (thrust and
