Description
This course provides the learner with clinical knowledge and skills in general examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, and assessment of outcomes for diverse patient/client populations with neuromuscular conditions, emphasizing deficits of the cerebral cortex, basal ganglia, cerebellum, and demyelination of the central and peripheral nervous systems in a variety of practice settings. Knowledge and implications of the pathological effects of central and peripheral nervous system disease and injury are reviewed for interpretation of findings. Principles of neuroplasticity and clinical decision-making models are introduced to inform plan-of-care development including appropriate goal setting and interventions frameworks in these patient populations. The Physical Therapist Practice: Management Process from the Guide to Physical Therapy Practice and the International Classification of Function, Disability, and Health (ICF) Framework are utilized as a basis for examination, evaluation
