Description
This course emphasizes application of current evidence and clinical reasoning in examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis and intervention of orthopaedic dysfunctions of the upper extremity. Emphasis is placed on medical screening, differential diagnosis, evidence based selection of physical examination tests, analysis of kinetic chain influences on the presentation of upper extremity dysfunctions and post-operative management of upper extremity surgical interventions. Residents will also complete an upper extremity focused case presentation and reflect on their clinical outcomes for upper extremity patients by analyzing their patient-reported outcome measures at the end of the course. Fundamental concepts of pharmacology and imaging and their application to orthopaedic patient/client management are also covered in this course.
