Description

This course provides an in-depth examination of contemporary professional and ethical issues in speech-language pathology, including ethical considerations, licensure and certification requirements, cultural responsiveness, interprofessional collaboration, evidence-based practice, documentation, reimbursement, advocacy, and current trends in clinical practice. Emphasis is placed on the ASHA's Code of Ethics, ethical decision-making, and strategies for effective professional communication and advocacy within diverse clinical and educational settings. Through case studies, discussions, and professional interviews, students develop a framework for addressing ethical dilemmas and navigating professional scenarios they may encounter in their careers.


COURSE PREREQUISITES: Successful completion of MS-SLP trimester 3 coursework: SLP 5305, SLP 5345, SLP 5340, SLP 5303.
