Dementia (most notably Alzheimer’s disease) is not just a disease relating to memory loss, but a process that encompasses a variety of symptom presentation. When working with caregivers dealing with an individual with dementia, there are basic behavioral manifestations that present themselves. Examples of issues that lead to behavioral problems that may need to be address are language problems, judgment problems, perceptual problems, motor loss, difficulties with ADL’s, and personality changes.
