Prosthetic Componentry; Keeping upup with current standards (CPE 9 121)
Term: 2023-2024 Academic Year Fall
This 2-hour presentation examines the physical therapist’s role as an interprofessional team member to assist in determining patient need, as well as prosthetic prescription, fabrication, and training in use of, and to evaluate the effectiveness of prosthetic devices. We will discuss the development of modern prosthetics related to limb amputation. Correctly identify the basic components, biomechanics, alignment, material properties, fabrications, and fitting principles of prostheses. Analyze common gait deviations in patients with lower extremity amputations and determine the possible prosthetic and patient causes.
