Description

This course will focus on evidence based advanced practice psychopharmacology building on previous advanced pharmacology coursework. Psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner students will understand the scientific principles of pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, pharmacogenetics and psychotherapeutic medications. Emphasis is placed on psychopharmacologic treatment for acute and chronic psychiatric conditions across the lifespan. Students will learn ethical safe prescribing practices, interprofessional collaboration with the focus on optimal patient outcomes.
Prerequisite(s): NUR 7560 Advanced Pharmacology and NUR7580 Health Assessment & Differential Diagnosis, NUR7610 Advanced Anatomy & Pathophysiology.
