The University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences (USAHS) is committed to ensuring the safety and security of every University student and employee. The Safety and Security department maintains numerous resources, aids and processes as part of this commitment. Students may reference MyUSA>Student Services>Safety and Security.
All employees and students also have a responsibility in maintaining a safe environment within the USAHS campus communities. As a reminder, University employees and students must always wear their USAHS identification badge where it is visible while on University property or while engaged in any University-related event, including during clinical education and in clinical settings.
Additional, important safety reminders include:
- Avoid “tailgating.” All USAHS students and employees should always use their own USAHS badge when entering campus, classrooms or study spaces. It is OK to hold the door open for colleagues, but each person must swipe their own ID badge on the door card reader to access.
- Do not open doors for strangers. Nefarious individuals rely on unsuspecting individuals to let them in, so being alert and diligent goes a long way in reducing the likelihood of potential criminal acts by people who do not belong on USAHS property.
- Do not prop open doors on campus. This includes classrooms, study rooms, labs or all other areas on campus that require badge access for entry.
- Always use the Envoy Visitor System to register visitors. Check with the Campus Service Coordinator at the reception desk for assistance.
- Have USAHS’ security number handy. Employees or students who don’t yet have a sticker with campus security contact info on the back of their ID badge should stop by the Campus Security desk/reception area to receive this decal. The University also recommends employees and students save the campus security phone number to their phone contacts.
Employees or students who need a replacement ID badge should contact their Campus Service Coordinator (Note: A replacement fee may be charged). For general safety and security inquiries, contact Campus Security or Director of Safety and Security Rudy Estrada at restrada@usa.edu.
