At my clinic, we use evidence-based practice each day to try new and established interventions that are known to provide good success. Most of the clients seen are stroke or brain injury patients that are experiencing weakness or hemiplegia to an upper extremity. Neuromuscular reeducation is the main goal of therapy to encourage movements and functional use with that arm. To achieve this, we includes things such as weight bearing, visual feedback from mirrors, and electrical stimulation. Electrical stimulation can be used for many different things but has been studied and shown to provide beneficial results for neuro re-education. This intervention has been study for several decades now and has become a main intervention to help patients of this population.
