There are so many things that I have learned from this fieldwork rotation that I will be able to take with me when I begin my career as an occupational therapist. Not only did I learn so much about documentation, insurances, and therapeutic use of self, I also familiarized myself with many different interventions that I did not know about or feel comfortable with performing prior to this. I now feel very confident treating neuro patients of all different functional levels from the beginning evaluation to the discharge. I am able to accurately select different assessments and make treatment goals according to their needs and own personal goals. I gained so much experience using different modalities such as e-stim and Bioness and used different interventions such as retrograde mobilizations, UE facilitation using aircasts and mirrors, etc. I have also learned how to get creative with the tools I am provided with and how to grade them appropriately. Who knew things as simple as a pegboard or a tennis ball could be used for so many things!
