I learned a lot from this second fieldwork experience that I will take with me. First, I became comfortable with transfers, bed mobility, and generally comfortable working with inpatient. I also learned a lot more about patient's medical status from being in a hospital setting. Specific to occupational therapy, I learned how to write simple LTG. It was a very beneficial experience as I was on the transitional care unit (SNF within a hospital), but several days I got to follow therapists on the rehab floor and also several occasions we went to work on acute. It was very helpful to gain at least an introduction to these areas especially regarding rehab and FIM scoring. I also learned a lot about billing and making discharge recommendations during this clinical experience.
