Description
This course emphasizes application of current evidence and clinical reasoning in examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis and intervention of orthopaedic dysfunctions of the spine. Emphasis is placed on medical screening, differential diagnosis, evidence based selection of physical examination tests, analysis of kinetic chain influences on the presentation of spine dysfunction and post-operative management of lower spine surgical interventions. Residents will also complete a spine focused case presentation and reflect on their clinical outcomes for spine patients by analyzing their patient-reported outcome measures at the end of the course. Fundamental concepts of basic orthopaedic sciences and their application to orthopaedic patient/client management are also covered in this course.
