Please share/ discuss something you learned from this fieldwork experience you feel will impact your practice as occupational therapist in the future:

The most important thing I have learned from this fieldwork experience is the logistics of running a private practice.  My FWS completes every aspect of the business on her own and seeing this has really allowed me to understand and appreciate this type of fieldwork setting.  Not only does she travel between several schools and see children in her home clinic in the afternoon, but she corresponds with parents, therapists, physicians and various other professionals extensively throughout each business day.  I have learned the importance of empathy and the best way to communicate with worried parents along with family education to really help the family unit understand why certain strategies are emphasized and used in treatment.
