The areas my supervisor and I identified I need to work on improving include grading activities for the various age groups and diagnoses we see in pediatric inpatient rehab services and becoming more efficient in all paperwork.  I was switched to the rehab setting after my 4th week of internship and had to quickly learn how treatment was approached in inpatient rehab as compared to outpatient that I was previously working in.  We decided that I would begin to see all patients, except for the difficult patients who lack head and trunk control and require two people to treat for the most beneficial treatment, and this way I would have more opportunities to think on my feet and grade each activity to provide the "just right challenge".  This week has gone much better! I have discovered more games and activities we can utilize in therapy for various goals in the last couple weeks and am better able to think quickly and change the activity if needed.

My paperwork has also improved.  My supervisor has me writing all notes and evaluations at this point.  Due to our case load and the amount of paperwork required in rehab, she is still assisting me when equipment needs to be requested and when we have several kids that need staffing notes before the next staffing meeting.  It has been difficult to learn how rehab works in terms of collaborating with others with certain forms of paperwork and making sure everything is documented in the patient's chart, our chart for rehab OT, and all of our notes for rounds and staffing meetings including scheduling the kids and FIM scores.  I have had a great experience thus far!
