What I have learned:
I know this may sound ridiculous, but on this fieldwork I have learned how to adapt outside my comfort zone. When I first came to Tampa General Hospital, I was very timid about working with new patients because I was worried about the unexpected. As I have continued to progress, I have become more comfortable in my treatment and evaluation approaches as I was prepared and my instructors gave me tips that education is important in this type of setting.
I have also learned time management and how to prioritize my day in a hospital setting. I am using my clinical reasoning skills to determine what the patient is able to or not able to do and I can choose appropriate interventions with patients.
I feel that I am fully capable of working in any type of setting with my experience here as there were a variety of diagnosis including orthopedics, burns, internal medicine/surgery, psychology, and neuroscience. I am. excited about the potential opportunities I may have.
