Please list all of the assessment tools you use when evaluating clients at this facility

  • Peabody Developmental Motor Scales (PDMS-2)
  • Beery VMI
  • A/PROM
  • Sensory Processing Measure
  • Parent/caregiver interview

Of the assessment tools utilized at this setting, name and describe one that you were not familiar with prior to this fieldwork? If there are none, please describe a challenging evaluation session you had with a client.

I have been familiar with all of the assessment/screening tools that we have used thus far during the evaluation process with our clients. One challenging evaluation session took place last week with a two year old girl who has not yet been diagnosed, however, there are some signs of Autism Spectrum Disorder and sensory processing deficits. This evaluation was difficult because the client demonstrated low registration of sensory input, causing us to have to take a "sensory break" every 3-5 minutes during the PDMS-2. If I did not provide her with vestibular or proprioceptive input between parts of the Peabody, she would refuse to participate and hide in the corner. This was also a difficult evaluation because the child would not establish eye contact during the entire session, making it difficult to build a rapport with her and get her to trust me as her therapist.
