Where does occupational therapy fit in the organizational chart for your facility?

Along with mental health services, the NRLC provides three therapy disciplines: OT, PT, and speech therapy.  The facility is focused on all aspects of rehabilitation, so the therapies are equally as important as the mental health services that are provided here.

The facility is a unique Rehab setting.  It is a neurological rehabilitation assisted-living facility.

List three fieldwork objectives/ goals you and your fieldwork supervisor (FWS) have established. Chose one of those objectives and share how you believe this goal will be met.

1. To plan a treatment session for a group by teaching a weekly therapeutic class.  This week I am assisting the teacher, and next week I am in charge of the class.  I will meet this goal by preparing material, powerpoint presentations, handouts, and exams for the clients.  I will also have certain higher-level clients assisting me with the instruction.

2. To perform regular OT assessments on the clients.  I have already completed several Interest Checklists with 5 different clients, and two COPM's.  I will be implementing an MVPT on a client today.

3. To document correctly daily notes on our clients.  So far my FWS is pleased with my documentation.
