Evaluations are simple in theory because of the much broader spectrum of information that is gathered in the acute care setting. Executing an evaluation has been more difficult with higher functioning patients that may not require skilled services. A difficult evaluation was one of my first. I had planned out the questions to ask and the screens I would use based on the patients diagnosis, but upon arriving to the patient’s room I found him walking in the hallway with physical therapy. I had to immediately adjust my approach because some of my initial questions were now irrelevant. I had difficulty reorganizing and I felt as if I was not performing the best evaluation.
