Please discuss how you incorporate occupation-based interventions in this setting.

In this NeuroRehab setting there are many ways to incorporate occupation-based interventions into my setting by working in the resident's bedroom or bathroom to do their ADLs. I also work on job skills and preparatory methods to obtain employment, such as working on resumes and mock interviewing. I also work with them on finding activities that are most meaningful to them.

Describe two issues that limit your ability to use occupation-based interventions and discuss strategies that could be used to minimize these barriers.

The barriers to using more occupation-based interventions into my setting are the limited time and limited resources. I already incorporate quite a bit of time to occupation-based interventions, but due to other obligations to the setting my time is divided among other needs of the facility. There are many occupations that the clients have expressed interest in that we have limited resources in accommodation to, such as hunting and fishing.

For the Demographics of Treatment Sessions specify the Percent for each of the following statements:

Considering an eight hour day, what percentage of your interventions would you describe as:

Occupation-based activities i.e., play, shopping, ADL, IADL, work, school activities, etc. (within client’s own context with his or her goals) 50%

Purposeful activities (therapeutic context leading to occupation) 25%

Preparatory methods i.e., sensory, PAMs, splinting, exercise, etc. (preparation for occupation-based activity) 25%

Total (Should equal 100%)
